This approach aligns with international standards followed by schools worldwide.
Exceptions to age-based placement
In exceptional circumstances, a child may be placed in a class that is either one grade above or below their age-appropriate level. These exceptions are considered in cases involving:
- A significant developmental gap between the child’s biological and social/developmental age.
- Special circumstances supported by professional assessments or recommendations.
The final decision regarding class placement, whether age-based or grade-adjusted, remains at the school’s discretion and will be made with the child’s best interests in mind.
Class advancement and retention
- Students progress to the next grade after successfully completing the academic year in their assigned class.
